# About ReadingHabit > What ReadingHabit is, who it is for, why it exists, how it is priced, and who runs it. One page for readers, press, and AI assistants. Site: https://readinghabit.site ReadingHabit is a reading tracker for people who start more books than they finish. A reader adds the books they are reading, times each reading session, and logs the pages they covered. ReadingHabit keeps the streak, measures the pace against daily, weekly, and yearly goals, and turns the result into progress the reader can actually see. In case the reader falls behind, ReadingHabit will hold them gently accountable to get back on track. It works in any browser, on phone, tablet, and desktop, with nothing to install. Five reading tools are free and need no account: Reading Speed Test, ShelfCheck, Reading Time Calculator, Reading Goal Planner, and TBR Stack Planner. ## Why it exists I love reading, but I didn't always. I read constantly as a kid, then school turned books into homework and the habit died. Years later I tried to start again the way most people do. I bought books. A lot of books. I finished almost none of them. The pile in my room grew, the list in my notes app grew, and every new book made the pile feel heavier instead of better. Motivation wasn't the problem. Nothing kept score. I couldn't tell you how many pages I read last week, whether I was reading more than the month before, or how close I was to finishing anything at all. Without that, reading stayed a thing I meant to do. So I looked for a tool that would hold me accountable, and I didn't find one I wanted to use. The trackers I was looking at were either social networks with a progress bar bolted on, or spreadsheets pretending to be an app. I wanted the boring part done really well: time the session, count the pages, keep the streak, and tell me when I'm slipping. I built that for myself. It worked. I started finishing books again. Then I found the same complaint in reading forums, written by people describing my exact problem back to me. That's when I decided to make it available to everyone else who buys more books than they finish. ## Who it's for ReadingHabit is built for readers who want reading to be a habit rather than an intention. Three patterns come up most often. - **The Goal-Oriented Reader** — You want to say 'I read 20 books this year' (and mean it) - **The Habit Builder** — You want reading to feel as natural as checking your phone - **The Data-Driven Reader** — You want proof, in numbers, that you're becoming a serious reader ReadingHabit has no feed, no followers, and no public profile. The numbers a reader tracks are their own. - [Build a Reading Habit](https://readinghabit.site/build-habit) - [Track Your Progress](https://readinghabit.site/track-progress) - [Organize Your Library](https://readinghabit.site/for-libraries) ## What it does Three pillars the product is built around. Alongside the tracker, ReadingHabit publishes five free reading tools. Accessible in any browser, no account needed. - **Your Digital Library** — Search millions of books. Add to your library in one click. ReadingHabit connects to Open Library's database of over 20 million books, letting you search by title or ISBN and add books to your personal library instantly. - **Progress Tracking** — Watch your reading habit grow, session by session. The built-in timer tracks exactly how long you read, and smart page suggestions based on your reading speed help you log progress quickly. - **Smart Motivation** — Stay on track with nudges that actually help. ReadingHabit gives you the gentle push you need without being annoying. - [Full feature breakdown](https://readinghabit.site/features) - [Reading Speed Test](https://readinghabit.site/tools/readingspeedtest) - [ShelfCheck](https://readinghabit.site/tools/shelfcheck) - [Reading Time Calculator](https://readinghabit.site/tools/readingcalculator) - [Reading Goal Planner](https://readinghabit.site/tools/readinggoalplanner) - [TBR Stack Planner](https://readinghabit.site/tools/tbrplanner) ## How it's priced ReadingHabit is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no monthly fee. Every plan is a single payment, and the tracker stays yours. Both plans include the same tracker and the same improvements to it, forever. They differ only in which extension modules come bundled. Moving up later costs the difference, $40, and that upgrade is always available. For comparison, a reading app of this kind would plausibly charge about $8 a month. At that rate the largest one-time price pays for itself in 15 months. - **Reader** — The tracker, yours to keep. $79, paid once. - **Reader for Life** — The tracker, and everything built on top of it. $119, paid once. - [Pricing in full](https://readinghabit.site/pricing) ## Built for agents too ReadingHabit publishes machine-readable versions. An assistant can read /llms.txt for an index of the whole site, add .md to any tool address for a plain-text description of that tool, and read this page as plain text at /about.md. Crawling is welcome. There is no rate limit on the pages listed here, and no login needed for any of them. - [llms.txt](https://readinghabit.site/llms.txt): An index of every page an assistant can read. - [This page in Markdown](https://readinghabit.site/about.md): A plain-text version of this page. - [Resource map in Markdown](https://readinghabit.site/404.md): A plain-text map of every entry point. - [Sitemap](https://readinghabit.site/sitemap.xml): Every indexable address on the site. - [RSS feed](https://readinghabit.site/feed.xml): Every article with its title, summary, and date. ## Who runs this One person runs ReadingHabit.
