### How is reading time calculated?
We estimate reading time using an average of 250 words per minute (the adult average) and 250 words per page. You can personalize this by taking the free Reading Speed Test or entering your own WPM. Your speed carries over automatically if you've taken the test before.

### Where does the book data come from?
Book metadata (titles, authors, page counts, covers) comes from Open Library, an open-source database of over 20 million books. Page counts are median values across editions, so they may differ slightly from your copy.

### Is ShelfCheck free?
